Shorehaven School provides a 220 day nonpublic special education day program for students identified as having autism, intellectual and/or multiple disabilities with varying behavioral intensities. The program focuses on the academic, vocational, behavioral, and social development of the students served. Curriculum addresses academics and introductory job preparatory experiences. Individualized education and behavior improvement programs are developed to meet the students' individual needs.
Individuals residing at Shorehaven live in community-based group homes, located in Chesapeake City and Elkton, which provide 24-hour supervision of five or six individuals per home. Independent living skills, leisure skill development and opportunities for community engagement are the focus of individual programs that are implemented in the residence. Each program focuses on the choices and preferences of the individual.
